Carpenter expressed remorse over the hurt he caused when he moved his ministry to California in 2018, and hope that he could mend emotions and regain the trust of Redemption members, and he spoke directly about his legal and interpersonal battles with Gray, who took over the Redemption campus following the Carpenters’ move West.

The Vision Night event held at the Greenville Convention Center drew nearly 2,000 registrants, half of whom attended, according to organizer estimates. Many had been members of Redemption before and had not found a good church fit.

Carpenter also spoke directly to people who he said may have been hurt by Redemption leaving and now returning.
